MTV Video Music Award for Best Alternative Video
The MTV Video Music Award for Best Alternative Video (also known as Best Alternative Music Video) was first given out in 1992. Prior to its inception, though, this award was known as Best Post-Modern Video in 1989 and 1990. The last of this award was given out in 1998, after which some artists and videos which would have been eligible for it became eligible for Best Rock Video. Nirvana is undoubtedly the biggest winner of this award, winning three times in a row from 1992 to 1994.
